In class on Friday, we shared insights of how teenagers show off their values or special talents. How we identify teenagers as them being cool, in certain ways; such as their behaviors, body parts and names. Andy Snyder ask us to ask someone who is using "one" of the strategies we classify as being cool.
I decided for this short interview, I will ask one of my best friend, Sammy Huang. Sammy and I use to be top gun, we are always together: chilling, partying and shooting some hoops. I will not go into "deeper" details about his personal life and what kind of person he "really" is. We know each other since we were in elemtary school, I decided to ask him, what make him cool. I probably will give some background information about his life. His name is Sammy Huang, he is now 19. He called himself "YL." "YL" is a short name for a hangout crew. No futher information. So we chill and shit. I ask him what made him so special/popular. "All i could tell you is that I am a serious person."
My friend doesnt have a serious behavior. He is in some sort of business that help him earn a lot of money. He doesnt take any drugs or have a act of violence. My friends love to go swimming and execise when he has a lot of things on his mind. I dont really wanna get into that much details about my friends. I chose him to be interview because he is my friend and we do everything together.

As I was walking through the park on Thursday, I recongize one of my old time buddy. OMG. We were so cool back then, It is like if there is one fishball left for us to eat, we will split it up and share it. That's how cool we were. So as I was walking to work, he came behind me and play a little prank on me. We gave each other pound and a light hug. As I was like "checking" him out, I realize he has change a lot. He has a silver chain, earring, and tatoo. He became a lot tanner and tough looking.
Unlike my other friend, Sammy Huang. He also has a crew he hang out with. I know his people and I am mad tight with them. His "crew" is not like any other crew, they act mad violence and do drugs. They have a name for their crew; no futher information.
I could had made him sound very horrible, but if you get to know him, he is very nice. Back then we use to have a lot of fun. As we grew older; we get separate but our friendship is still going strong.
For my last interview I decided to interview one of my neighbor. I dont know why I chose my neighbor but he seem like a very cool person to me. Every christmas, he will give me a gift or a card. I dont really know him that well because he is never around. He always comes home mad late. I know he is a very ncie person in the outside but in the inside, you dont even want to know. He has mad tatoos and he got his ear pierce. To think of it, I think he is a violence person. I dont know how but its just my own opinion.

HW # 30-Psychological and Philosophical Theorizing of Cool- (planing to revise)
This could be one of the hardest assisgnment that Andy has gave to us. How can cool be viewed as a major attempt to fill the emptiness inside of us with an internal heroic mission? I am not even going to lie, I am having a lot of trouble finding sources of how cool can connect to emptiness or I am having difficulties understanding this assignment, but I am going to try.
How does "emptiness" feel? As some of us probably dont know what emptiness means; as a human condition is a sense of generalized boredon, social alientation and apathy. Feeling emptiness relies on being lonliness, depression. I am not going to even look for sources, I am probably coming out with my own theory/examples on emptiness.

"The perks of being a wallflower," by Stephen Chbosky, a book about a highschool student who always feel empty and wanted someone to listen and gives him attention. "I just need someone out there listens and understands and doesnt try to sleep with people even if they could have. I need to know that these people exist." He felt lonliness and boredom when no one even realized he exist. He took drugs and a act of violence.

Who wants to be all empty all the time, so of course, we need to feel the right way. Which is being cool. Something that makes us stand again. Something that makes us run and become strong again.

HW # 29 - Merchants of Cool
Let me start out by saying, "What is wrong with this world?" What is the meaning of girls showing off their body to the whole crowd? Co'mon ladies, some of us cant get those kind of blessing. And does teenagers know what they are putting up on their life such as being "cool"? Think about it, do we seriously have to risk our lives to grab a hold of attention from others? Didnt you guy heard about "freedom." Yeah, we can do whatever we like, but do we seriously have to put on some fashion clothes and run around the block, looking cool or grinding on people to show off your style? We all have our way to identify ourselves. We dont have to be "cool" for people to notice you. Everyone on this world has something valuable to share and we all have special way to claim the world. One thing we all must do is to live a meaningful life.
I am not that cool type of person who loves to show off their style of body because I have none. But I am definatly a cool person that lvoes to help friends family out. I just want to be happy and live a happy meaningful life. There's a reason why god put us here on earth, in the first place; to play a role to satisfy our needs. The ability to taste accomplishments and to seek happiness. On Tuesday or Wednesday, Matt Fried, a psychologist that teaches at School of the Future, explain that "we" as in young teenagers has the right to feel cool in certain ways. We mostly look for those cool values within someone else but not ourselves. Just think about it this way, whether you are a guy or a girl who tries to look good for this person, you are giving up a life time to this "person" you trying to get in touch with. It is better to control our own being instead of letting someone apparance change you. Now, I agree with Matt Fried because I think it is not worth it to act cool around people that you dont know, just to get in touch with them. You cant let someone take over your mind.
What's on your mind right now? Did i slap some scent onto your mind? Seriously, no matter how hard you try, you wont make any progress. Probably a little but still, you shouldnt try to impress anyone by being cool. In "Mercant of Cool" a PBS tv shos, shows us that the corporations are trying to show us teens, that we are spending a great amount of money on trying to be cool and feeling secure/valuable. We are wasting our precious time trying to iminate others, by being cool and showing off our styles. You can save those money on computer, games, whatever you like but not on something that is uncommon.
You know what is funny throughout my senior year? My history and english class. IN english class, we talk about existential imaginal and in history class, we are discussing about personal political. Combining those two classes, it seem like I learn a lot. We live in a world that help us look for what best suit us. What gives us hope, happiness, and the privildge to be whatever we want. we have to find something that stands out for us, that make sure that the younger generation are able to learn from us. HW # 28- Informal Research- Internet, Magazines, and TV Shows

Have you ever wanted to be the cool guy or cool girl, and does the right thing? If you think about all the people who you think of as cool, you can possible have several characteristics in common, such as condifent, unique, and friendly terms.
There are many steps of how to be cool. But I think the most important steps are
1. Dont care so much about what others think of you. We are always different from everyone else. We are always on different level or stages, so why care what people say about you. You dont have to please anyone except yourself and people that really loves you. Dont let people get under your skin and make you become a different person.
2. Be aware of how others will precieve you. There is no chance in hell, to let people judge who you are and affect your self esteem. All you got to do is do what you have to do and feel secure about yourself.
3. Find real friends. Why do you hang around friends that require you to wear designer clothes, they are not "REAL" friends. Friends are suppose to have your back, not judging your appearance or force you to look better.
4. Keep yourself "cool" The definition of cool is being calm, indifferent, and socially adept. All you got to do is keep yourself cool, pace yourself and dont let stuff get into your mind. Make yourself comfortable and dont put your mind on anybody else situation. You need to have confident within yourself.
5. Last but not least. BE YOURSELF!!! DONT TRY TO BE LIKE ANYONE ELSE. LIVE LIFE FOR WHO YOU ARE.

Yale University one of top college in the United States, located at New Haven, Connecticut. A smart talented college where "cool" teenagers stronly forgets why they are in such a smart college and doing stuff that is ruiling their lives.

HW 27 - Informal Research- Interviews and Surveys
Family Member : Youngest Anut
For this interview, I decided to interview my youngerst anut. My anut is from my mother side and I belive she is the coolest person in my family. Somehow she acts very differently than anyone else in this family. My oldest anut doesnt know how to show apprecation. My mother is a cheap ass. I can say that my dad is close of being cool bht he knows how to waste money, so thats not cool. My grandparent are old so I am going to leave them out of this. All my cousin and one of my uncle can be cool, but I really think my youngest anut is the coolest of them all. She is kindhearted and shw knows how to make a person smile or solve any problems. So I decided to interview my youngest anut.
"Hey anut, can I ask you some questions?"
"Sure, what is it?"
"Well, at class we are dicussing about a new unit on people being "cool" and my teahcer gave us this assignment to work on. So I decided since you are the..."
"Coolest anut?"
"Yes! see, thats what make you so cool."
"I know, so whats the questions?"
"Well, let me start out by asking why do you think I chose to interview you and not anyone else in this family?"
I am guessing I am better off than almost all the grown ups. I know why you didnt choose your mom because she is always mean to you and always make you feel hurt. Your anuts doesnt know how to make a child happy but I can. Your uncles doesnt have the time to keep up with [your] life, because they have work. I am different because I always call you to see how things are going for you. Whenever I see something match you, I will buy it for you. Is that why you chose me?"
"Yup, that's exactly why I chose you. And also at class, one of main reason why people are so cool is because we judge them about fashion and styles. Do you thik coolness relies on fashion and styles?"
"I dont think "all" people are judge by fashion or styles to determine if they are cool or not. You chose me because I am cool than anyone else in this family, but I dont dress "cool". I wear whatever I like, depends on my mood. Most of my friends that I go shopping with doesnt dress "cool" they dress whatever fit their desires.
"You have seen "cool" teenager, what do you think of the way they act throughout their way of dressing?"
"That's a pretty hard question to answer. It is very hard to judge someone's being just by looking at their dressing. Some people may have a good personality if they dress "ghetto-ly" Some people may have a bad personality if they are not dressing "cool." It is very hard to tell if someone is trying to be cool or not.
My anut's point of view about being cool seem to thrill me off. After listening to her speech about people being cool. I think I may agree with her. We dont really know for sure if "this" person who dress "cooly" is good or bad. Fashion really doesnt tell us much about the person's traits.
Andy also told us to interview stranger(s) from the street. I saw this old man sweeping the street down at 7-11. He was probably around his 60s and he was wearing a white t shirt with a good chain around his neck. He was wearing these paggy pant and wore a pair of nike sneaker and a yankee fiited. I chose to interview him about being cool because he kinda dress like the "cool" type, so probably when he was a teenger, he probably have problem acting cool. I walk up to him with a smile and ask how he was doing. He replied back saying: "Whats going young fella," and shook my hand. Basically I went straight to my point and ask him:
"You are probably around your mid-age and I see you sweeping the floor with yo chain and rocking those fresh sneaker, where you "cool" when you were a teenager?"
[laugh] "you wanna roll like me?"
"umm, just doing a assignment for my class."
"Well, back when I first started high school, I be chilling with my boy and messing around on the street. I use to have ladies following me around. Ladies lying up from Madison Square Garden to the Brooklyn Bridge waiting to get in touch with me, boy. I drop out of highschool in my second year, end up cleaning the street and wasting my time. But I still be bagging girls. A month ago, I took this girl back home and..."
[looking at my time] "sir, thanks for your time. I really have to get going right now. Sorry I have to stop you."
"Well, come back and ask me more."
I seriously dont know what got into this dude. I dont even know how he still look "this" fresh and end up working on the streets. That's not cool at all.

DO you think you are cool? Why?
umm, I dont think I am cool. I just dont have the style of becoming cool. Many of my friends say that I am cool in a way, but deep inside of me, I just want to be a special girl to those who I loved.
So howcome you are wearing a skirt?
well, it was my graduation day so I want to inspire my friends and families. Just for this day, thats all. One a really basic day, I will just wear what most girls wear.
Do you think people talk about the way you dress?
I believe so. I think a lot of people feels jealous about the way i dress. I been hearing people talking behind my back saying damn, I want to be like that girl... with those hot ass jordan. And the way i dress, probably makes some guy fall in love with me.

Well, I think I am cool because I get a lot of attention from my freinds. Even though I dont have a big generation at school but I been seeing mad people wants to get to know me. When I was little I wanted to be like those black people in the street, rocking with their fresh jordan, becuase they have stlyes. They forces me to cop their styles.
Do you think people want to be like you?
Um.. I am not quite sure if people wants to be like me because everyone has their own style of being cool. I dress cool not to get attention... I dress cool so I can fit in this world. I dont see people around me saying stuff behind my back.
If you didnt follow anyone footstep, will your life change? Like you said... you follow these black people style.. so what happen if you dont have that kind of "style'?
I think nothing changes. I just like to wear clothes that looks good on me.

HW 25- Story Comments and Analysis
To Sam J,
"What made her so cool was that she didnt change because of what people thouht of her." 'We didnt like change, so we kind of distanced ourselves from change. We just were ourselves. Maybe we didnt get what being cool meant, but then again, we just didnt really care." I totally agree with this quote you came up. Who even care if you are cool, at least you are still the same person inside. You came up with a pretty nice story of how a teenage girl grow up to worry about her looks and becoming cool, but it is still natural, but their personality is still the same. Good Job.

Your story is a little bit confusing and off topic but it is still funny to read about a man who doesnt give a shit about anything. Damn man your main character is not cool at all, he is a badass. But it was nice reading a funny story of how a kid tries to kill his teacher. You sort of have an idea of how your story is going. I read more than 5 stories and everyone else is good. I notice that people set coolness as an example as being the ghetto type or just want to stand out, getting attention. Almost home, Quinn lept on thinking how can he become like the rest. Immendiately, Quinn thought of something. If there's a problem, there got to be a solution. He took out a pair of scissor from his bookbag and smile.

H.W #23- 1st Constructivist Exploration of Cool
There wasn't a direct definition for "cool." Most of the definition relies on the weather or staying cool under different circumstances. It doesnt really have a definition of what we are studying or relating to that "cool" we are talking about. Personally, I think the definition of cool means the act of being a show off or being popular. Dont you think being cool can put you to be a high standard in school? Like co'mom man, you get to be well known, people are able to look at you with respect and diginty. The feeling of beinmg cool is just standing next to jesus and smoking a cigar with him. Picture yourself walking down the hood and people just eyeing you, wont you feel statics or superior coming off from your body? If you are cool, people wont bully you and just leave you alone, cos they know not to mess with a "cool" person.
I had this experience of being cool back when I was in middle school. When I was in 7grade, I was like those chinese boy that wear gap and payless crap. My classmate will make fun of how I dress and not using deodorant. And I do cared about my feeling because it hurts... its incomplete. So one day, I have to come up with a plan to be "cool" or well dress. I took a scissor and cut my new payless shoe and made up a lie that a wire got caught onto my shoes. Then I told my mom I needed nike shoes to be part of the basketball team. When I wore in school, I was part of the cool group. Now they have respect for me. One nike shoe can just change my life and influnce me to be one of those "bad boy" Now I feel complete and satisfied.
There are still some questions I have about being cool. What are some reaons why teenagers want to be cool? Are they trying to please the ladies or their group of friends? Do they want to hang out with those fresh tough better looking kids? There are some people in School Of the Future, who thinks "they" are cool and all that. I dont see any reason why this person even want to be part of the cool group. This person aint smart of cool. It just pisses me off to see people that are not cool to belong in some "cool" group and for those people that are not cool or smart, just get bully.
I think people that are cool suppose to be those who are respectful and friendly. Those who are bully are not cool at all because they are big ass jerk and they fuck around too much. They have no rights making fun of people and how they look or dress. I am definatly cool because I respect people that respect me. I am friendly and sweet to those who need help. Personally, I have an interesting story about my own life I will like to share but I am waiting for that homework assignment. And one more thing... People that are show off is not cool at all. 1. Is your art a hammar or a mirror? Why?
Pretty much, I think my film of art is a mirror because it show us how my daily life is influence by technologies. How these digital representatives ruining our life and getting into our head and just make us conscious. My art is like a reflecting of our life showing us what exactly we are doing.
2. Does your art make you fink and theel? What are some of your own reactions to your art?
While watching my film of art, I think "our" life could have been better if we dont get distracted by technologies. It makes me think I am useless and not paying attention to my education. Especially my brother because he is young, and technology is just taking over his life. It is a waste of time to play video games because if you win, what do you get? Nothing. I am ashamed of myself by not spending time on my grades and not using digital representaties wisely.
3. What was the most interesting aspect of your making of the art?
The most interesting aspect of my art is probably nothing because this happen almost everyday. I didnt come up with this film at all, it just happens. My brother spends his time on the computer playing his games, then, when my mother comes back home. my bro, then, will start on his homework.
Translation: I am not going to force my mother to speak "english" because this film has to be straight forward. But, I am going to translate what my mom said. Basically, as my mom came into my bro's room. My brother quickly close his game and work on his homework. My mom was yelling at my bro, asking him howcome he didnt finish his homework. Howcome he is playing his game instead of working.

HW #22- Final Draft & Writing Tips
Introduction:
Have you notice that using technology causes the person to change his or her life. In this universe, young teenagers and adult uses digital representatives because they want to be part of the society. They want to be popular and have fun like any other kids, which causes them to change. According to this young teenager life Quinn Wu uses technology because technologies are the only way to keep him close to his friends and to maintain satisfication. Quinn uses technology to interact with girls and changes from focusing in school to lazy. Quinn always have school on his mind, always concentrating no matter what, getting good grades until his dad decided to reward him with a playstation 2, that's when Quinn started to change. Digital Representative show through the society that technology is a way to change people lives, which also creates dramas, unaccomplishments and tradegies.
Mom:"How the fuck did you get a 80 on your progress report!?"
Quinn: "But mom, 80, is a passing..."
Mom: "I dont care if you get a 81 or a 99.9. I want to see a 1 next to two zeros. You are living under my roof, using my money, eating from my dinner table, so, there are certain rule(s)you must follow!"
Quinn: "But, I did so much better than a lot of people from my school."
Mom: "So?, why are you setting your mind as being an failure? You are not smarter than any other kids. You didnt even make it to Stuyvesant High School. Why do you have to compare yourself to people? Worry about yourself. Worry about your future. Dont worry about anything else but school."
Quinn: " Mom, give me a break. I read everyday and dont have time to play."
Mom: "What did I just tell you? Huh! Right now, it is about school. You never have your mind in school other than playing your games and going online. When I tell you to study... you go to sleep. When I dont tell you to study... you just kept on playing and not worrying about your grades. Do you want to be like your father? Sitting at home and not finding an job? Do you want to support your children? Do you?
Quinn: " That's Bullshit! I do worry about sch..."
Mom: "You are bullshit. There's kids that wants to go to school but their parent dont have the money to give their children a education. I see children dont have money to buy themselves book. Children who wants to learn... have no money. Children who doesnt want to learn... have money, but end up wasting it. LIKE YOU!"
Argument 1:
Before I get started on this paper I will like to know: "What are parent for?" Parent are not just your protection but they are also your coach and guidance. I should had listen to my mom when she told me to focus on school and just put the freetime on the side. She warned me but I never end up listening to her. Therefore, I have to face the consequences. Everyday, everynight, I have to study, read for at least an hour, stay afterschool until my mom sees improvement. Now if I were to go back to time, and listen to my mom, I wouldnt have to spend time and time working my ass off.
Evidence 1:
In "Everything Bad is Good for you" by Steven Johnson, is a passage about a man speaking of how technologies that are use to be bad turn out to be good. Steven Johnson starts out by saying how technologies are actually helping us to interact with our education. Steven Johnson, tries to get into our young mind and convince us that all these games, t.v shows, and internet are good for us. The purpose of his reading is to argue why technologies have make young generation much more intelligence and being entertain. Now, I do agree with some of Steven Johnson's idea but some of his "reasoning" pisses me off.
Evidence 2:
Not just his words makes me feel inscure, but the ways he compare technology to education also makes me feel surprised and asking myself, "is he out of his mind?" He speak about how videogames force us to play the game until you beat the game. It helps the player to be more active, making chances, solving problem and exercising our mind. Steven Johnson mentioned that video game is just like reading a book. Video games you have to focus to get into the next level, and you need to concentrate of your reading to finish the book. Reading and video games has same similarities. They are both challenging and a way to learn.
Evidence 3:
Speaking of reading, watching television is also a way to learn. Johnson mention that reading takes time to understand and there's no picture to entertain us. Unlike, television, there's picture, speakers, and entertainment. Sometimes, kids dont really understand what they are reading, such as hard vocabulary and sentence structure. But television is different, there's picture that makes you understand what's going on and where the story is heading.
Evidence 4:
Dont forget about the internet. Steven Johnson made a statement saying that internet is the best way to meet new friends. Online brings people together and make us smarter in a way. Even though, we meet strangers that doesnt equal to be a bad thing, nothing really changes but you get to learn from them and become best buddies.
At the end of his story, I think most of the stuff that Steven Johnson are saying is "Bullshit." He came up with the dumbest reasons saying that technologies are able to help us. When he brought up the point of how reading is like a video game, got me thinking. He is right and wrong at the same time. Reading helps us to learn and improve your writing skills. It really doesnt matter if the book is boring and shit, at college, we will be reading textbook that doesnt make sense. Playing games will lower our grades. Once you play, you cannot stop playing which makes you dont have time to study. I start playing video games when I was in freshman. My mind wasnt on school, it was finish playing my games. Which fuck my grade up. Right now I have to spend most of my day, fixing my grades. I hate reading but I still have to read no matter what.
Watching t.v I actually agree with Steven Johnson when he said we can learn so much stuff from watching t.v. T.V entertain us by having sound effect and we have pictures in front of us. So we can get the meaning real quick. But watching too much t.v can affect own learning. For exmaple, watching t.v makes you like nervous. You cant wait to see what will happen next. You kept on waiting and thinking about the next espoispe and not worrying about school.
Internet. Thats when I totally disagree what Steven Johnson is saying. Internet is not a place to make friendship, such as in facebook, myspace, whatever. Talking to strangers? Why will you talk to people you hardly know. Their words can hit you but deep inside of that person, they can be really bad. When Andy told me to do some research about technology. I decided to reseach about facebooking. Theres a lot of shit happening on facebook. Young teenage girls getting stalk, people dying, full of shit like that. There's are many people that we cant trust and we definatly cannot learn through experience like that. I dont know what Steven Johnson is trying to say about internet, I totally disagree with him. Internet is not a bad place to talk to people, that you actually know. But talking to random strangers! Are you out of your mind? Like seriously. Who talk to strangers? I have a question for Steven. What happen if your girlfriend met this stranger and decided to meet up face to face. What wil happen to your girlfriend. I think she will end up getting rape. I dont even let my close friends talking to my girlfriend because I want her to be safe. Random people just IMED, just to become friends, but I am a guy, I know what guy are thinking.
Argument 2:
Steven Johnson's passage were debateable and he wrote a lecture that many have connected to my life at first, but not when I grew out of technologies. Although, I know little about Steven Johnson's life, I do NOT want to learn about him because his words doesnt influence me in anyway. For example, I believe that video games, television and internet brings drama and tradegy. Technologies, now days, are so precious that they fuck up my grade. They make me lose love from my parent. They make me suffer. They bring drama into my life.

So basically, trying to prove Steven Johnson and the point of this paper that digital representative is a way to change people lives, which creates dramas and tradegy. I did a little research on facebook and video games. Facebook leads to danger. In case you didnt notice facebook is one way that could leads you to danger. Dont you realize that every new year, a number of cases show us that parent, teachers, and employers sign up onto facebook and check up on people. Networking website facebook seems a harmless way to gossip and pictures with mates, but someday it will cost you your job and blight future. Dont think you're able to hide shit from others because stuff that are delete, are automatically saved by facebook or google. You think that you can get rid of something so easily but someday it can come back to bite you. Let's put it to this way... if you are at least 18 and you did some stupd shit and was posted up on facebook, when you reach your older age, guess what? you will face a serious problem in the future.
Why is facebook also bad for relationship? Facebook leads to serious situations of jealously between friends and parent. Facebook is a site that allow you to give information away to people which makes people mad. Strangers has the opporunity to get into your page and steal your girl/boyfriend away. I should had listen to my mom when she told me to focus on school and just put the freetime on the side. She warned me but I never end up listening to her. Therefore, I have to face the consequences. Everyday, everynight, I have to study, read for at least an hour, stay afterschool until my mom sees improvement. Now if I were to go back to time, and listen to my mom, I wouldnt have to spend time and time working my ass off.
In "Everything Bad is Good for you" by Steven Johnson, is a passage about a man speaking of how technologies that are use to be bad turn out to be good. Steven Johnson starts out by saying how technologies are actually helping us to interact with our education. Steven Johnson, tries to get into our young mind and convince us that all these games, t.v shows, and internet are good for us. The purpose of his reading is to argue why technologies have make young generation much more intelligence and being entertain. Now, I do agree with some of Steven Johnson's idea but some of his "reasoning" pisses me off.
Not just his words makes me feel inscure, but the ways he compare technology to education also makes me feel surprised and asking myself, "is he out of his mind?" He speak about how videogames force us to play the game until you beat the game. It helps the player to be more active, making chances, solving problem and exercising our mind. Steven Johnson mentioned that video game is just like reading a book. Video games you have to focus to get into the next level, and you need to concentrate of your reading to finish the book. Reading and video games has same similarities. They are both challenging and a way to learn.
Speaking of reading, watching television is also a way to learn. Johnson mention that reading takes time to understand and there's no picture to entertain us. Unlike, television, there's picture, speakers, and entertainment. Sometimes, kids dont really understand what they are reading, such as hard vocabulary and sentence structure. But television is different, there's picture that makes you understand what's going on and where the story is heading.
Dont forget about the internet. Steven Johnson made a statement saying that internet is the best way to meet new friends. Online brings people together and make us smarter in a way. HW # 19- Big Paper 1 Suggestions

Sam, I am having trouble understanding your rough draft. It is not that your paper is bad, I know you are heading somewhere but it has confusion. And I am a slow reader and cannot get the meaning just yet. I think you shouldn't start with an definition because it just doesn't hook the reader. Some people doesn't know what is the definition of "humanity" so you can probably add it somewhere else on your paper. Your introduction is not that catchy. I think you should have all your arguments/ examples down then make an better introduction. That's one way to hook your reader because you know what you are using to back up your thesis.
Another thing about your introduction is when you briefly said that all human needs communication, how does that put us on top of your food chain. It is like so random[ish]. I think you should take that out. You are also saying that most people cannot be disconnected from others but how come you are saying that internet is separating us? Have you notice that using technology causes the person to change his or her life. In this universe, young teenagers and adult uses digital representatives because they want to be part of the society. They want to be popular and have fun like any other kids, which causes them to change. When he brought up the point of how reading is like a video game, got me thinking. He is right and wrong at the same time. Reading helps us to learn and improve your writing skills. It really doesnt matter if the book is boring and shit, at college, we will be reading textbook that doesnt make sense. Playing games will lower our grades. Once you play, you cannot stop playing which makes you dont have time to study. I start playing video games when I was in freshman. My mind wasnt on school, it was finish playing my games. Which fuck my grade up. Right now I have to spend most of my day, fixing my grades. I hate reading but I still have to read no matter what.
Watching t.v I actually agree with Steven Johnson when he said we can learn so much stuff from watching t.v. T.V entertain us by having sound effect and we have pictures in front of us. So we can get the meaning real quick. But watching too much t.v can affect own learning. For exmaple, watching t.v makes you like nervous. You cant wait to see what will happen next. You kept on waiting and thinking about the next espoispe and not worrying about school.
Internet. Thats when I totally disagree what Steven Johnson is saying. Internet is not a place to make friendship, such as in facebook, myspace, whatever. Talking to strangers? Why will you talk to people you hardly know. Their words can hit you but deep inside of that person, they can be really bad. When Andy told me to do some research about technology. I decided to reseach about facebooking. Theres a lot of shit happening on facebook. Young teenage girls getting stalk, people dying, full of shit like that. There's are many people that we cant trust and we definatly cannot learn through experience like that. I dont know what Steven Johnson is trying to say about internet, I totally disagree with him. Internet is not a bad place to talk to people, that you actually know. But talking to random strangers! Are you out of your mind? Like seriously. Who talk to strangers? I have a question for Steven. What happen if your girlfriend met this stranger and decided to meet up face to face. What wil happen to your girlfriend. I think she will end up getting rape. I dont even let my close friends talking to my girlfriend because I want her to be safe. Random people just IMED, just to become friends, but I am a guy, I know what guy are thinking.
Steven Johnson's passage were debateable and he wrote a lecture that many have connected to my life at first, but not when I grew out of technologies. Although, I know little about Steven Johnson's life, I do NOT want to learn about him because his words doesnt influence me in anyway. For example, I believe that video games, television and internet brings drama and tradegy. Technologies, now days, are so precious that they fuck up my grade. They make me lose love from my parent. They make me suffer. They bring drama into my life.
So basically, trying to prove Steven Johnson and the point of this paper that digital representative is a way to change people lives, which creates dramas and tradegy. I did a little research on facebook and video games. Facebook leads to danger. In case you didnt notice facebook is one way that could leads you to danger. Dont you realize that every new year, a number of cases show us that parent, teachers, and employers sign up onto facebook and check up on people. Networking website facebook seems a harmless way to gossip and pictures with mates, but someday it will cost you your job and blight future. Dont think you're able to hide shit from others because stuff that are delete, are automatically saved by facebook or google. You think that you can get rid of something so easily but someday it can come back to bite you. Let's put it to this way... if you are at least 18 and you did some stupd shit and was posted up on facebook, when you reach your older age, guess what? you will face a serious problem in the future.
Why is facebook also bad for relationship? Facebook leads to serious situations of jealously between friends and parent. Facebook is a site that allow you to give information away to people which makes people mad. Strangers has the opporunity to get into your page and steal your girl/boyfriend away. It is like you just gave away your vigirnity and letting people seeing your naked body.

HW # 15- ABCDEF 3 - Treasure Hunting

Wow Sam, I am glad that Andy gave us this assignment to read through our parnter's blog. I bet all your blogs are amazing but I went from the order of the blogs and I have to say, "Assignment 10, Informal Research Internet," you did a pretty amazing job. The tone of your paper seem so "real" it is like you are so fierece while you are writing your arguement.
You found some great sources to research about. Your first link/paragraph about how companies say that cell phones and radios are a great techonlogies that wont harm your brain. I think that is bullshit. Each time I make a call to my friend or family, the line waves always makes my head dizzy. I also remember that my dad said that when you are calling someone, dont have your phone next to your ear for 20 second until you reach the line, or else it will damage your ears or head.
Like what your second link/paragraph said, cell phones are able to disrupt our brain tissue. And I never know that cell phones are able to kill bees. This link is interesting... Phone kills bees? How is that even possible? I know that bee will stink the shit outta you if you go near it, but a cell phone? Wont that make the bee more mad? Very interesting. HW #14- Second Text
At first I thought that reading those two short passages will be faster to write about and easy to understand. But when I took a quick glance at the long passage, it seem like there are more information given. And the author, Steven Johnson, makes me think deeper into technologies and should I agree with his definition of "good" technology. Something in his words makes me agree and disagree with him. In "Everything Bad is Good for you" it shows how technologies is actually helping us to interact with our education. The author, Steven Johnson, tries to get into our young mind and convince us that all these video games, t.v, and the internet are all good for us. The whole purpose of his reading is to argue why technologies have make young generation much more intelligence and being entertain.
I was surprised that Steven Johnson compare reading to video games. How did he ever come up with that idea? Video games force us to play the game until you beat the game. It makes the player to be much more active, taking risk, solving problem and just exercising our mind. But there are some bad aspects of video games such as downfalling your grades, create fights with your parent or sibling, prevent your from going outdoors and exercise. Steven Johnson mentioned that video game is just like reading a book. How you suppose to concentrate and get to the next level. Books are challenging so is video games. So reading and video games has same similarties.
Speaking of reading, watching television is also a way to learn. Johnson mention that reading takes time to understand and theres no picture to entertain us. Unlike, television, there's pictures,speaker, and entertainment. Sometimes kid dont really understand what they are reading, such as hard vocabulary and sentence structure, television has picture that makes you understand whats going on and where the story is heading. For example, I believe that everyone watches the news instead of reading the newspaper. Watching the news save you a lot of time and you get to know whats going on, with a quick snap.
Internet. DOnt forget about the internet. I have so much "shit" to talk about. Steven Johnson made a statement saying that interent is the best way to meet new friends. Online brings people together and make us smarter in a way. Even though we meet strangers that doesnt equal to a bad thing because you get to have fun and slowly become friends.

Feed B
If i were to recommend this book to someone.... i will recommend this book to my little brother. I think this book will help my brother out and let him realize what he is doing to himself. I know that the book "Feed" will draw my brother attention and force him to grow and learn from his mistakes. Somehow M.T Anderson has a way to get into the mind of a readers and make them realize what they are doing wrong. As what every writer or editor has a reason why they are writing this book to young children, they are trying to send a note or a message telling us something important or something we must learn. Ha! Right after my brother read it, there wont be no happy ending for him. He knows that spending too much on the computer will affect his thinking, but he still does it. I want the book to tear out his brain and make him suffer.
As What Anderson point out in his book that if you are continously using digital devices, sooner or later, you will approach deaft. This tells us reader that dealing with technologycan makes us become more ignorant. This makes the reader feeling worrys and make them learn. I think it was very smart of M.T Anderson that he create such story and connects it to our world, when young teenagers understand more about techonlogy situation. Our lives is very similar to Titus's life. If there were happy ending, Titus wouldnt have learn from his mistakes and if we were compared Titus to us; we dont live in an happy ending. We live in a world of tragedy. And referring to what Tobin was saying at the end, young adults/adults has the potential to become more ignorant due to the fact that technologies are so addictive. Now an day, our young generation follow our footstep and become less educator.

I think art is a mirror and a hammer. The mirror is a reflection of the situation and the hammer is to be able to shape the way they wanted to be. Both of these help us realize what American teenagers is doing. The mirror plus the hammer help us visualize what we are doing behind the world. This all depends on the readers, and the affect by the book. In Feed situation, the book is a masterpiece that will turn everything around from how it started and how it will end.

Feed A
M.T Anderson. Who is M.T Anderson? and why is his book so inspiring to others? Why did he become an teacher and an editor? Quite frankly, at class, we didnt talk that much about him, but i went home and did a little bit of research. Mr. Anderson was born on November 4th, 1968, in Stow, Massachuetts. Anderson attened to Harvard, University of Cambridge and Syracuse. He was a former instructor at Vermont College in Montpelier, Vermont, and former music critic for "The Improper Bostonian." There are two reasons why M.T Anderson write for young children. Either they have children, or they are children. M.T Anderson grew up in a small town surrounded by apple orchards and woods. He spent most of hs time, playing in the forest. He didnt live near many kids, so he just socially and lived in an fantasy world. Sometimes, he gets too distracted by his dream which causes him to become an editor in literature. He started to write plays about his childhood. M.T Anderson also gave us a strategy or something we should know, if you want to be an writer, all you have to do is "read everything" - romance novels, ninteeth century novels, Greek epics, Chinese poetry...etc. M.T Anderson wrote an book, "Feed." Feed was a 2002 Los Angeles Times Book Prize Winner.
I was inspire by M.T Anderson's book "Feed," there were many connections to our lives. This book seems to draw my attention everytime the book made a good point of how technologies affects us young teenagers. Feed also explain how the main characters brain function like an computer, which connects to our lives. We dont have computer inside our brains but there is techonlogy everywhere around us. This book explains how "feed" is on 24/7 and it never stop, which shows me that their world is control by evil technologies. But when someone hacked into their priority/ services, they completed space out. It is like someone just unplugged something that was access to this certain monitor, then the world complete shut down. Luckily they got their "power" back wich gave them life again. All of this connect to our world. If we didnt have technologies... this world will be extinct by now. No digital devices equals to deaf.
Who actually doesnt give a shit if we didnt have technologies? It seem like everyone cares if we didnt have any systems. I could imagine the world without digital representations, everyone will just be bitching. I think the reason why technologies has affect our brain is that, we follow others footstep. For example: I gew up without technologies and when i see my friends playing his gameboy advance, it makes my heart broken. It makes me think that I dont belong in this world. Now my father and younger brother stays on the computer most of the time. This also make our generations more stupid and lazy. It seem like everyone is challenging each other to see whether who spent the most time on the computer or watching television. In the book Feed, Violet is the only one that can deal with her life without feed. She is the only one that didnt get affected by the feed which makes her worry. She is saying that this nations is full of dumbass and no one is realizing what she meant by that any why she felt that way. That also relates to me... it seem like i am living under the roof with idiots. "When can we learn?" "When can these technologies stop getting into our head?" "Why does our brain follows other people footstep?" I just know one thing... dont let technologies take over or control you... let your mind control the game.

HW : Experiment 1
It has been almost an week since my sidekick LX doesnt work. My sidekick couldnt go on aim or online. I was still able to make phone calls to my friends and families or even text them. But honestly, nothing changes in the pass few days without internet on my phone. I wasnt even worry or hoping the internet will work because i was able to use my laptop at home. "What about in school or when you're free?" I dont even use my sidekick doing school hours and when i am free... my phone is still able to contact people. "Why did you even get an sidekick in the first place?" I bought an sidekick instead of any other phone because I wasnt actually thinking how to save money. I wanted to be like other kids that has a sidekick. Going online while you're in school or on a subway ride. But as i grew older I know what is the right thing to do.
If my laptop wasnt access to the internet, then it will be a different story and i will definately become a different person. I need my laptop no matter what. NOT for fun but to organize my works. It helps me to become an better person. It also helps me to focus on school and say bye bye to games. Back then, i get distracted by the computer which brings my grade down. But as i grew older I think wiser. Somehow I think this is connected to life. When you get older... you take more responsibitilty. You will know what is the right thing to do instead if making mistakes. It is like your brain function automatically to make you choose a better choice. Overall, deep inside of me.... I change a lot.

HW # 10 - Informal Reach Internet
FACEBOOK LEADS TO DANGER!!!
In case you didnt notice facebook is one way that could leads you to danger. Dont you realize that every new year, a number of cases show us that parent, teachers, and employers sign up onto facebook and check up on people. Networking website facebook seems a harmless way to gossip and pictures with mates, but someday it will cost you your job and blight future. Dont think you're able to hide shit from others because stuff that are delete, are automatically saved by facebook or google. You think that you can get rid of something so easily but someday it can come back to bite you. Let's put it to this way... if you are at least 18 and you did some stupd shit and was posted up on facebook, when you reach your older age, guess what? you will face a serious problem in the future.
Why facebook is bad for friendship? As we know that facebook is a fantastic technology to meet new friends, but it is sort of a dangerous place to meet "strangers." Strangers can check you out and fully know everything about you. Which is bad because you dont want strangers to be reading your profile. To all the ladies out there that are using facebook, think about... will you wheter be safe or getting stalk and get harass. [if you need protection... let me know(ladies)]
Personally, i dont need to search up why facebook is good because i dont believe that facebook is acutally clean. Yeah, it is good for the ones who wants to do some negative shit. I dont think there is any reason why facebook is good.

When i seach up facebook equals bad on youtube, there were many great links but i think this one is the best. When i search facebook equals good... it didnt give me shit but some dumbass link about good people. So i believe that facebook is always "the bad one."
I sign up facebook last year and i found many of my old friends. i spend at least 4 hours on facebook and waiting for an friend request. But as time passes by, stranger such as hotass chick, celebrities, people that i dont even know added me, which makes me feel nervous. There were always shit happening on facebook such as fighting for an girl/boy. My girlfriend has a facebook and i be checking her page to read her comments. When she added new pictures of herself... most of her comment makes me mad. "Hey sexy, wanna drop yo cute ass over at my crib tonight?" "Whats yo number?" That pisses me off... so i deleted my facebook. Just for a reminder... to all the guy out there who has a facebook, watch over your bitches or else they'll end up on some other bastard arm.

One more thing i want to talk about is video games. I know that video games can be addictive but it can really hurt you. Such as lowering your grades, gaining weights, shit like that. Basically i change a lot. Back when i was a junior, video games is the only thing that could make me happy but when you see your grades... you wish you havent buy it. Video games can be expensive and it is a waste of money. Every year new games will be release and you will just forget about school and end up on the street.
I am a senior now in high school and i will be soon heading to college. My GPA is on the 80s and it doesnt really help me to get into any of my colleges. But thanks to god i have more chance of increasing my GPA. My last chance to shine... I'll not get distracted. Thanks for being there for me but it is time to move on. Goodbye video games and dont ever come back.
